There are so many things that can be said about the Koobecaf culture. The reason that Koobecaf is so successful is because people, mainly students, are drawn to the idea that they can keep in touch with friends that may have moved away or gone to a different college, and is also a good way to stay in touch with relatives that you may not see very often. The Koobecaf culture originally was intended for college students but now has grown into a Nacerima phenomenon, allowing anyone who wants to be part of Koobecaf to join. This has changed Nacerima culture in good and bad ways. A negative could be seen with direct communication and not having to talk directly to people. Even making a phone call is unnecessary because of Koobecaf. A positive is that Koobecaf creates little effort to keep in contact with friends and family.

Koobecaf is changing Nacerima culture in a way that allows us to stay at home and not go out and socialize with friends. Because people are interacting with photos and talking back and forth to others they begin to replace direct communication with this new socialization. They are getting further and further away from what the Nacerima culture used to be. Before Koobecaf was popular other forms of communication were text messaging, e-mail, phone calls and writing letters. Some would argue that the letter had more meaning than any of those other forms of communication.

There are so many ways that Koobecaf ties and relates to the superstructure, social structure, and infrastructure and maybe is why Koobecaf has been so successful in Nacerima culture. If you think about Koobecaf in terms of its superstructure there is a reason why it’s appealing because there is privacy. If someone wants to look at your profile there is a way that you don’t have to allow this. The Koobecaf culture can go even further and reject a friend’s request. If you don’t like or know the person you don’t have to be their friend. There are many choices that are given to you in Koobecaf.

You are allowed to make your own identity listing everything there is to know about you. Going into the social part of Koobecaf you can let people know how many friends you have. As in every society, some want to appear popular and can add people they don’t even have a connection with to show a large number of contacts. This links to the genderlects in Nacerima culture where people, mainly males feel they need to have a status of having the most friends, the coolest pictures and be in the most groups. It seems someone always has to be better than someone, which is a really egocentric attitude. People on Koobecaf can look into other people’s lives and see how boring or exciting their lives actually are by looking at photos that people put on their Koobecaf Eliforp.

A negative aspect of this new culture that may affect lives of Koobecaf members could be job prospects. Some pictures could be tracked and seen by future employers showing bad judgment that could be bad judgment drinking and partying all the time, especially with the option of tagging photos which allows you to put a name to a face. Also the infrastructure part of Koobecaf can allow a businessman to advertise his business to many people at once about goods and all kinds of merchandise.

The ideas and values that people on Koobecaf may have reflect on them as a person. If you write good things about yourself then you will have positive feedback from others. If you display yourself in a negative perspective then there could be ramifications from it. However, without being able to express yourself the way you want, I don’t think Koobecaf would be as successful as it is today. It is one of the most interesting parts of this new culture.
Koobecafe is unique in it’s own way and that’s why it is so popular. It allows its members to express themselves in ways that they may not feel comfortable with in front of others. It is a way to get rid of their fears and open up in a way that other methods of communication don’t allow for. Freedom is a big part of Koobecaf and the Nacerima culture.
