The Nacirema live in a very busy society and are often unable to socilize as often as they would like. Face to face confrontation is not as common as it once was due to the emergence of computers in the Nacirema society. One particular invention is the Koobecaf. From my observations, it seems like an quick and easy messenger for Nacirema culture. Do to the fast paced life styles of many individuals, sometimes it is difficult to find time to socialize.
Koobecaf seems to help remedy this particular problem. The Naricema is a culture that thrives on socializing, to the extent that it is one of their primary sources of recreation. Koobecaf is a natural extension of this need.
Koobecaf itself has a rather user friendly interface. Through near constant notifications and a list of sdeef and setadpu, friends and family can keep in
touch no matter the distance. Friends from long gone can be searched for through the search bar. Not being a frequent koobecaf user myself, some
aspects still perplex me. My most noticable observation was how strickenly similar Koobecaf seems to my own culture's Myspace. Though Koobecaf seems to have a cleaner, more organized, and an overall more mature application than Myspace. The utilization of technology is quite impresssive.
The initial view of Koobecaf is very simple and user friendly. You can almost do anything using Koobecaf, from trading and selling, meeting new individuals, and customize your profile to fit your personality and represent you individualism despite the millions using Koobecaf.
Why does Koobecaf appeal to the Nacirema is quite the conundrum. I believe the answer is rooted in the need to socialize with others. The degree of
the which individuals socialize differ greatly, but the the Nacirema as a whole seem to enjoy being connected with individuals of their culture. With Nacirema's culture emphasizing social activities, it seems almsot a neccesity to have a Koobecafe type application. Others of their culture tend to move or migrate to different places, ranging from several blocks to different continents. Koobecaf is the solution to keeping in contact with friends and
other indiviuals that otherwise would have been long forgotten.
