Brooke Gfeller Koobecaf Assignment The Nacirema is heavily dependent on always creating new ways to stay connected with people. They are always looking for new exciting ways for people to stay in contact with one another. Koobecaf was created for just this reason. Right when signing into Koobecaf, it says “Koobecaf is a social utility that connects you with the people around you”. They put all the emphasis on the fact that anyone and everyone socially that can get internet access can be connected to anyone around you. Plus it is completely free to everyone. On the welcome page of Koobecaf it also gives you some idea of ways to use this page. It allows you to keep up with your family and friends, share photos, and reconnect with old classmates. Just these options and the fact that it’s a new trend of our Nacirema culture has led it to grow into one of the biggest ways of communication. Koobecaf fits into the barrel model in many ways. The social structure just in itself has many different ways that allow us to express ourselves. Not only can you write on peoples walls, instant message any of your friends that are online, create groups, add and comment on pictures of you and others, but also to create your own customized profile. Your profile then opens up tons of options. When setting up your profile you can make it as detailed or as simple as you want to describe yourself, the things you like, funny quotes you may have heard. It shows when your birthday is, or if your single, in a relationship, just looking for friends, married, or any possible relationship status you may consider yourself to be in. The superstructure includes how you feel, your values, and beliefs. You can update daily or even hourly if you wanted how your feeling or what you’re doing at that exact moment. People often even post their religious denomination as a way to maybe have that one more thing in common with someone. Koobecaf will probably be forever changing and improving in some people’s eyes but changing for the worse in other peoples. Koobecaf may be around for many more years and continue to change our way of communication. But no matter how you look at it Koobecaf has came into our Nacirema culture and made a huge statement.
