Koobecaf - Jennifer Butler
Jennifer Butler Engl. 253 9-19-08 Koobecaf The Nacirema have added something new to their culture in recent years. Something they call Koobecaf. This seems to be a way of life now. They sit in front of their sretupmoc for hours logging onto Koobecaf and checking out the etisbew. Many of the Nacirema access Koobecaf for gnitad. In amazement to me, some of the Koobecaf members cross vast distances and large bodies of water to meet other koobecaf members. Some think they are in love and have never even heard the other person’s voice. Some of these couples plan to marry before they even meet each other. This sometimes leads their young into dangerous situations, because people aren’t always who they say they are. This can also lead to culture shock. The people who are relocating are in too big of a hurry to take the time to learn the details of the culture where they are moving. This Koobecaf has become a part of their culture. You can walk up to almost any Nacirema and ask them if they have an account on Koobecaf and you will find that more of their people have one than do not. In ways this has changed the culture of the Nacirema. They used to stay in touch by using the mail system where they have to write each other and then put something called a stamp on it and that gets it to its destination. Then they created something they called the enohpelet to keep in touch. Now their race uses sretupmoc which gives them access to tools such as Koobecaf and other types of portals. Some of them now use Koobecaf to do their writings to each other and they just type it up and post it on their etisbew. This saves them from having to buy stamps. There is something to be said about the ymonoce of the Nacirema and how Koobecaf impacts it. While visiting the Nacirema I was able to explore Koobecaf on one of their sretupmoc. I found that the portal has its own type of trading post where you can exchange different types of products and services for a green type of paper in which they call money. They also use this so called money for food, and brick and wood built shelters which they call houses. On Koobecaf you are able to meet all sorts of different people who aren’t from Nacirema. These people come from different villages from all over the world. Many of these people have different cultures than the Nacerima. Koobecaf can be used for good things or bad things. While visiting the Koobecaf etisbew I found out that some of the Nacirema put very derogatory things about themselves on Koobecaf. While doing my research I found that they also lie about themselves. I can’t for the life of me understand why they would want to put such shame on their village, their family and themselves in such a way to disgrace them all. The things they do would be shameful to anyone. The Koobecaf is clearly used for bad and good things. It is up to the Nacirema on how they want to use it.
