ANTH 204 Koobecaf Assignment Jordan Branfort T.A.: Leischa Class Time: Friday 11:30 Koobecaf Ethnography A new culture has developed right before our eyes, this culture is the Koobecaf. Once closely related to the Ecapsym (myspace), the Koobecaf, guided by their chief and leader Mark Zuckerberg have now proved themselves to be the more dominant culture, they now have over 100 million people that are consider themselves members of the Koobecaf. There is so many that there is now a process in which people could be terminated from the community if they don’t follow certain rules. How has this culture blown up in the past couple of years, I believe it is because of the advancements in technology on planet earth, the Koobecaf are very dependent on technology to survive. Although there are millions in this group, none of them ever seem to speak face to face, they communicate primarily through computers but recently even started to communicate through very tiny computers(cell phones). Some have even branched off and have started subcultures or groups, it seems that everyone belongs to more than one different group. This is a great example of many of how the Koobecaf value individuality. The Koobecaf express individuality in almost every way, every individual in the culture has a different profile. Some like games, some rate their friends, some are very talkative, and some are just interested in what others are doing. They are very independent, however there are rules that everyone in the culture must follow. The people of this culture capture their lives through images and videos they each bring into the culture, some are better gatherers than others. Yet, everyone must not bring explicit material into the culture. While Zuckerberg is the alpha male of this group, there are also very powerful followers. The more powerful people in this group usually have the most top friends, which is a feature of this culture that lets you pick which friends are your own personal best. If you look closer at these profiles of the more powerful, they usually have more people talking to them, and also more images of themselves on display as one as the ones that others have gathered for them. However, the powerful, nor the leader of this group has any say over who calls themselves part of Koobecaf.
The Koobecaf have created an environment that is suitable for almost anyone, anywhere. The Koobecaf started out as a group composed mainly of teens and college students, however, now there is virtually no rules to join. It is one of the only cultures that I have ever seen where there is no dominant, race, skin color, religion, or gender portrayed in the Koobecaf. They are also the only culture that relies on reproduction of other cultures to keep their culture alive. Since they have no physical contact when they communicate, there is no way for them to reproduce. It is really a culture that is fit for nearly anyone in this world, and may just someday be posed to become the largest culture this world has ever seen.
