Koobecaf
Koobecaf
Not long ago our society became familiar with Agnax (Xanga) and Ecapsym
(Myspace), then came along the evolution of Koobecaf. An evolution in which Mark
Zuckerurg created an environment suitable for almost anyone. Koobecaf was originally
for college students to connect with people from all over but has expanded so that nearly
anyone can join.
Koobecaf, a culture in itself is a place where one could express their
individualism. One is able to create photo albums, send bumper stickers, join groups,
post notes and blogs, all of which help in defining our personality. As the saying goes “A
picture is worth a thousand words.” We begin to creep on others photos to get an idea of
a person’s image conscious also known as identity. We find ourselves lost and lonely so
most of us enter the world of Koobecaf. It allows us to be in the “in crowd” or “popular.”
It’s ironic how with the click of a mouse we can find out any and everything about a
person.
Koobecaf is significant in that it allows us to connect and communicate with
friends and family from all over. We find it much easier to click on a profile of a friend
to ask them what everyone’s plans are for the weekend. Making face-to-face contact
totally unnecessary. I believe Koobecaf gives us a form of entertainment. Not only do
we get to see photos of what a person did on the weekend but also we are capable of
wall-to-walling others to get the latest gossip. Who’s going out with whom? And who
broke up with whom? Having a Koobecaf has almost guaranteed everyone the right of
your business.
Taking Koobecaf a step deeper we can relate it to the barrel model, explaining our
American culture. Koobecaf fits in all the above, infrastructure, social structure and
superstructure. As we know, infrastructure includes technology. We are able to step out
of the box and become familiar with mass media, markets, and agriculture. Next, we
have the social structure aspect of Koobecaf, which allows us to express ourselves. We
find ourselves building a family through social organization and political organization.
The superstructure aspect includes our beliefs, ideas, and values. All of which we have
our own. We are able to show the world our independence, individualism, and love; all
core values. We rely on this and what better way to fulfill others with this than by
Koobecaf.
Either way I believe Koobecaf is for the most part beneficial but it does have a
down side. It allows us to stay connected, whether through friends, family, work, or
school. The downside is it allows everyone to know everything about you, which can turn
into something unsafe.
