Art Discussion Guide
Art IS life. Art provides meaning to life. It expresses our identity. It brings us together. It is all around us.
As you brainstorm what forms of art will be present in your culture, consider the following:
* your cultural values & how art might express them
or how art will be affected by those values.
* resources available for artistic expression.
* everyday items may be "artistic"
* religious items/rituals/songs might also be "artistic"
* research similar cultures and draw comparisons with your own.
What cultural values should be expressed in your art?
How might these cultural values affect art in your culture? (For example, cultures who do not emphasize individualism might place higher value on the best copy rather than the most innovative art)
What everyday items/events in your culture might be considered artistic? Describe them.
What religious items/rituals/songs in your culture might be considered artistic? Describe them.
Are there any similarities between your art and other cultures’ art forms? Compare and Contrast.
